Surface Cleaning and Preparation
Surface preparation is the most important step before fitting dashboard trim, films or protection pieces. Many interior panels have dust, skin oils, polish, silicone dressing or cleaner residue on the surface. These can reduce adhesion and cause edges to lift later, even when the part looked correct during dry fitting.
Start with a gentle interior-safe clean to remove visible dirt. Then use the preparation method recommended for the product being installed. Avoid harsh solvents on sensitive plastics, painted trim, screens or soft-touch coatings. Always test carefully if the surface is unusual or already worn.
Let the surface dry fully before fitting. Check corners, recessed edges and textured areas where moisture or cleaner can remain. Temperature also matters: a cold panel can make adhesive less responsive, while an overheated cabin can make alignment harder.
