From “I want to build a van” to a documented plan

FitYourself is a campervan planning, discovery and marketplace platform for people building vans and the professionals who help them — combining AI-assisted planning, converter discovery, specialist products, digital plans, guides, projects and community discussion.

A real campervan build rarely begins with one neat shopping list. The owner starts with a vehicle, a rough idea and dozens of questions: Which layout? Which battery? Which heater? Which installer? Is this product compatible? Can this professional actually do the work? What should happen first?

The information is usually scattered between shops, forums, social media, YouTube videos, manufacturer PDFs and local workshops. FitYourself was built around a different idea: vehicle, layout, components, professionals and project decisions should belong to one connected build context.

The goal is not to replace the converter. The goal is to help the customer arrive better prepared — with clearer choices, better evidence, better questions and a documented route through the build.

One platform, six connected layers

  • AI-assisted planning — helps organise choices, build areas and next steps, turning a vague idea into a structured planning conversation.
  • Converter directory — search by country, vehicle base, services and directory status, making specialist discovery less dependent on generic search results.
  • Marketplace — products, services, conversion kits and digital plans organised by build category, so buyers can shop around the build rather than arbitrary store departments.
  • Build guides — vehicle-aware practical guides with platform, length, roof and steering context, reducing the risk of copying advice from the wrong van configuration.
  • Projects — records layouts, decisions, images, progress and project intent, making real build decisions visible and reusable.
  • Community — discussion around electrical systems, layouts, weight, safety and build methods, adding practical context that a product page alone cannot provide.

Discovery with status, not anonymous listings

FitYourself’s directory is built around visible status. Current public directory pages contain more than 400 records across the connected network, while clearly distinguishing Unclaimed, Claimed, Approved and separate verification states. Demo and sample profiles are explicitly labelled.

  • Unclaimed — a limited public record assembled from available business information.
  • Claimed — the business has started ownership and evidence checks.
  • Approved — platform publication and approval steps have been completed for the displayed period.
  • Verified — a separate evidence-review status; not an insurance policy or workmanship guarantee.

A marketplace designed to keep specialists visible

FitYourself’s vendor model is subscription-funded rather than commission-led. Current vendor membership is published at £15, £29 and £45 per month depending on active listing capacity, while FitYourself takes 0% sales commission. Optional annual company verification is separate.

A specialist workshop should be able to show what it does, publish products or services, receive enquiries and keep the value of its own work — while buyers get clearer identity, compatibility and support information before commitment.

A two-sided Projects Marketplace

Client projects help customers describe the vehicle, required services, region, budget and preferred start date. Converter availability listings allow professionals to publish free production windows, supported vehicles, services, working radius, budget expectations and available build slots.

Matching is designed around vehicle, service, country or radius, budget and start date. Client project publishing is free; professional access, availability capacity, featured build slots and full brief access follow the published membership and project-access model.

Why the van market matters

FitYourself is being built around a market that is much larger than the leisure-conversion niche alone. Vans are working vehicles, mobile workshops, family travel platforms, camper bases and small-business infrastructure.

  • Ford Pro reported an 11th consecutive year as Europe’s leading commercial-vehicle brand in 2025, with market share above 17%; Transit and Transit Custom were described as Europe’s two best-selling vans.
  • Stellantis Pro One reported 28.7% European market share in H1 2026, including leadership in the compact- and large-van segments.
  • Ford cited research estimating van-related businesses at around €1 trillion of economic contribution across the EU and UK in 2023.

What van-industry leaders are saying

FitYourself does not claim endorsement from vehicle manufacturers. These statements are included as industry context because they point to the same themes behind the platform: specialist solutions, customer productivity, service ecosystems and vehicle-specific needs.

Hans Schep — General Manager, Ford Pro Europe

“This more flexible and specialist-driven offering is designed to help van owners and operators get the absolute most from their vehicles.”

Eric Laforge — Global Senior Vice President, Stellantis Pro One

“Being a leader implies a great responsibility — Excellence is expected by the customers...”

Mathias Geisen — former Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans; now Board Member, Sales & Customer Experience

“As the leader of the premium van segment, it is our goal to offer our customers the most desirable vans and services.”

Oliver Blume — CEO, Volkswagen Group

In 2026 he highlighted measurable product-quality improvements across the Group, including Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.

Useful planning should make safety clearer, not hide it

Campervan projects can involve structural work, seat and restraint systems, 12V and mains electrics, gas, heating, ventilation, water, payload and road legality. FitYourself treats AI and editorial content as planning assistance — not as engineering certification or permission to perform regulated work.

Where a decision is safety-critical, the platform direction is simple: use documented components, vehicle-specific information and competent professionals.

Regional approach

The platform serves the UK, EU and Türkiye through regional routes and language support. Consumer, tax, vehicle and product rules can differ, so the contracting seller and project professional must state which terms and jurisdiction apply.

Built in public phases

FitYourself is being developed in controlled phases so directory, planning, marketplace, project and legal workflows can be tested independently instead of pretending that every future feature is already finished.

The live platform is fityourself.co.uk. Public project work is organised through GitHub, while Cloudflare is used in the current delivery and security stack. Administrative dashboards are intentionally not linked publicly.
